Honey Hush is named after Big Joe Turner’s 1953 blues classic. We play our own songs, ranging from country blues and southern rock to funky tracks, which you now are able to hear on our debut album *Blood Turns Blue*.

Our powerful Honey Hush sound thrives on Frank Born’s harmonica, with its rousing riffs and dynamic versatility. Frank Born is one of Germany’s most acclaimed virtuosos on the “Mississippi Saxophone”. The second ingredient in the Honey Hush cocktail is the guitar work of Matthias Heft, whose musical role models are Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter and Albert Collins. Frank and Matthias also share the vocal parts.

In the engine room, the highly experienced rhythm section features Bernd Strefling on bass and Selim Öztamur on drums. With their groove, they provide the two frontmen with the necessary musical foundation for their solo escapades.

All the musicians have been playing in various bands for many years and have already shared the stage with numerous national and international blues greats. The band performs regularly on stages in Düsseldorf, the Lower Rhine region, the Ruhr area and the greater Aachen area, as well as in neighbouring countries.

We are very proud that, in June 2024, we took first place at the Vestische Blues Award on our very first attempt! The judging panel, comprising blues experts Peter Hempowicz, Jürgen Grenz, Jochen Bottländer, Marco Böhmer and Mike Moscheuy, voted us right to the top of the podium! Read More (German).
